Red Rag - Today Clegg announced "the most significant programme of empowerment by any British government since the great enfranchisement of the 19th century", They will be putting power back into the hands of the people and therefor reduce the cost of politics and the amount of money paid by the taxpayer in running it.
This morning the Liberal Democrats requested Short Money, this is money given to opposition parties by the tax payer to fund their running. But aren't they in government with the Tories. Yes ,the Lib Dems say, but only in some departments and want money for those departments they do not run. Begs the question, do they really want that many departments, because if they do, they get less Short Money.
However more importantly, on the same day as Nick Clegg is promising to reduce the costs of government, his own party is bending the rules backwards to get more money from the taxpayer.....more faces than the town hall clock.
